“Today… we have to realize that a true ecological approach always becomes a social approach; it must integrate questions of justice in debates on the environment, so as to hear both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor.” —H.H. Pope Francis, Encyclical Letter Laudato Si’
Pope Francis’ Encyclical Letter Laudato Si’ — On Care for Our Common Home calls all of humanity to recognize that creation is a gift from God. It calls us to see that everything is connected, as a beautiful integral ecology. The ecological and societal crisis in our world implores us to renew our relationship with our God, who is a Trinity of mutual relations, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and with all elements of creation through prayer, daily sacrifice and a commitment to transformative actions as an imperative of our faith.
Brother Mark Mackey, SJ will present the integral nature of the spiritual and scientific underpinnings of Laudato Si’ and how those underpinnings compel us to an ecological and spiritual conversion, thus responding to the cry of the earth and cry of the poor.
